Dear client, colleague and friends.
We hope that you, your colleagues and families are all safe and healthy. This global health emergency is affecting all of us thus our firm is implementing all the necessary measures to avoid risks for our members and contributors by complying with all containment and health guidance.
As of today, Caracas is part of the cities affected by a governmental decree ordering a lockdown and quarantine in part of our territory intended to contain the Coronavirus outbreak. This includes closure of banking services (except e-banking) restricted circulation and of course non essential governmental services, which includes the Venezuelan Patent and Trademarks Office.
In view of the above, all ongoing deadlines and due dates will be suspended and in those cases when the due date falls in a non labourable day, the due date will be recognized further on to the FIRST labourable day available.
Members of the firm will be working remotely with access to our server. At this time we are available to schedule meetings and calls through ZOOM ™ videoconferencing. For patent, design and trademark direct filings claiming priority under the Paris Convention we encourage you to inform us with at least 48 hours in advance, because all deadlines falling during the lockdown period will have to be met in the first labourable day available. This means being prepared to have all filing fees, patent and design annuities prepaid in order to secure the filing date. The VPTO has not issued an official notice yet nor there is information of how long will the lockdown / quarantine extend.
We remain available should you require ongoing information by email to the following mailbox: firstname.lastname@example.org
